Jane’s House of Inspiration (JHOFI) is celebrating its 14th Founder’s Day! We’ve engaged in 14 years of service helping women, families and communities treat and prevent substance use disorders and related problems. We started in 2006 as a single phone line in Alabama, which women could call for substance use treatment referrals and other social services, such as linkage to shelters for those trying to escape domestic violence. Over the past 14 years we’ve accomplished the following:
- Expanded our service area to include Alabama, Maryland and Pennsylvania (specifically, Philadelphia the hometown of our namesake, Ms. Jane Lee Britton).
- Conducted countless community health conferences and service events in partnership with churches, universities, state and local government and persons with lived experiences.
- Purchased a facility in Baltimore, Maryland where we linked people to a host of recovery resources, provided primary care and mental health services to include counseling for substance use disorders.
- Served as a medical rotation site for the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and trained medical residents in women’s health, community health, research and substance use prevention.
All of our services remain free of charge because of supporters like you! We eagerly look forward to the next 14 years and are grateful to be of service.
Happy Founder’s Day!
