New location slated to open in the City of Brotherly Love.
Jane’s House of Inspiration (JHOFI) Press Release:
This year’s All White Affair will be held in Philadelphia, PA, celebrating the opening of JHOFI-Philadelphia! In the Summer of 2012, JHOFI will open doors to its new Philadelphia location!
JHOFI’s Board of Directors have awaited this day to announce the opening of its first location in the City of Brotherly Love – Ms. Jane Lee Britton’s home town. Let me tell you the story of Ms. Britton: Ms. Britton grew up in the streets of Philadelphia, but had a heart of serving and giving back. Jane Lee Britton, a woman of strong faith, suffered from domestic violence and substance abuse on and off throughout her life. Ms. Britton, an educated woman with many skills and talents never gave up hope of living a drug-free and abuse-free life; neither did she lose her faith due to her circumstances. Despite trying times, Jane Lee Britton positively influenced the lives of individuals in her community by helping elderly neighbors clean their homes after she returned from work each day, and by sponsoring children’s programs to enrich the lives of youths. No one ever suspected that such an educated, kindhearted woman would be suffering from domestic and substance abuse. Eventually, Ms. Britton’s problems with substance abuse became worse, and she found herself at times homeless and without resources to make ends meet. As a recovering addict with fragile support systems, Ms. Britton found it very difficult to find resources such as employment and quality housing, even after completing treatment programs. In 2006, Jane Lee Britton graduated from earth to a better place. Ms. Britton’s daughter, Qiana L. Brown, started Jane’s House of Inspiration in honor of her late mother to ensure that women in similar situations would always have the resources and support they need to recover.
President Qiana L. Brown is bringing the organization that was founded in honor of her mother back to the Philadelphia streets where her mother touched so many lives. President Brown says “this is a great day for Jane’s House of Inspiration, opening JHOFI in the community where my mother and I grew up”. Rev. Terrance L. Brown, Regional Executive Director, is engaged with several agencies, community groups, and realtors for the anticipated opening date in the Summer of 2012. Rev. Brown says, “City of Brotherly, JHOFI-Philadelphia is looking forward to serving you, and we need your feedback. Lets us know what you want. Lets us know what you don’t want. Be involved in this effort every step of the way. JHOFI-Philadelphia will be part of the community, working to serve the people of community, therefore we need you to make this effort your very own from inception to completion!”.
